Silver grille on g series 911

Hi all, I have a 76 2.7 911s, silver with the chrome window trim and original Fuchs with polished petals. It's a really classic looking narrow body 911.

I have been thinking recently how nice it would look with a silver decklid grille. I think it would really suit the car. Has anyone ever fitted a 5 bar silver grille to a g series car? How did it look? How did it fit?

Would this fit my car? https://www.aasesales.com/products/c6a-b52-734i-102771 if not could it be modified to fit?

Thanks! Scott.

That's a ridiculous price Scott. Try rennspd.com as theyll probably be half the price

To answer your question, yes they look fine on a silver car, as I'm doing it to mine eventually, and as far as I'm aware the bolt holes for all 911 grilles are in the same spot. Theres an alternative too that @AndrewW recently did to his plastic 84 decklid, and that's individually wrap the fins with chrome vinyl, and I could hardly pick the difference he did that good of a job with it

I know an earlier decklid will fit my SC. There are either 3 or 5 vertical bars behind the mesh which is for certain years, yet that is usually just for owners who want originality. Personally, I prefer the 3 bars, as they're not as obvious as the 5.

Have a go at the vinyl, as it's what I call a cheap mistake, and/or contact @AndrewW to find out the correct length and width (or I can ask him), as his is done very well by himself which he will be doing on mine...whether he likes it or not 😁
