franky Posted 31October, 2022 Report Share Posted 31October, 2022 Hi guys, I am new to this forum, please excuse me if there are threads about this topic. I just want to know what you guys think of personal import and how you look at the values of them. Thanks ^.^
tomk86 Posted 31October, 2022 Report Share Posted 31October, 2022 I would personally expect to pay around a 20% discount. Other may not care, but for me this is based on risk (limited DD, potential rust depending on origin etc.) franky
sleazius Posted 31October, 2022 Report Share Posted 31October, 2022 Prior to covid car craziness, UK cars routinely were sold at a 20-30% discount to the exact same Aussie delivered car and it was like that as long as I can remember. Covid demand changed things and closed the price gap to almost nothing, especially for desirable models. With increasing interest rates here who knows how that will change again? The buyers of older cars tend to not have to worry about finance so much, so I'd be looking at the 993 for arbitrage opportunities. If it were me there has to be cash to be made on 993 Turbos. Prices here are insane. Especially going UK to AUS. franky
twro Posted 1November, 2022 Report Share Posted 1November, 2022 Agree with 20% - 25% discount, for UK imports anyway. Concerns about rust being the main voiced issue, but generally the resale value is 20% less so people want to buy at 25% less! franky

Once you factor it all in a lot of cars are not worth it.
