Russ Posted 22August, 2013 Report Share Posted 22August, 2013 is there anything wrong with your sporto box? looking to sell it after the conversion?
SteamWolf Posted 22August, 2013 Report Share Posted 22August, 2013 Converting to RHD will cost nearly what the car is worth. Learn to love LHD! Can't help with the 5sp conversion tho.
Uncle Posted 22August, 2013 Report Share Posted 22August, 2013 I may be able to help with the gearbox but not for a little while as I need to find a short bell 930 4 speed box first. +1 on leaving it as it is. 77 is old enough not to need to be swapped over. Russ Posted 22August, 2013 Report Share Posted 22August, 2013 have you tried embracing sportomatic?

wasserkuhl Posted 22August, 2013 Report Share Posted 22August, 2013 I'd convert to a 915, which is relatively simple, leave it LHD as it will cost you alot of money to convert it. You'll need a 915 Box (4-5k dependant on where you get one), a manual pedal cluster, Flywheel, Clutch, Clutch cable, Shifter tower, shifter rod and shifter. Plus a few other small items. You're looking at around 6k+ to do this, if you do the work yourself. I would be buying the parts from overseas from pelican parts. You could also try Autohaus hamilton(nsw) to get a comparison quote on parts supply as they are very competitive. It does make sense to convert if you are doing a full body restoration and repaint but this would cost north of 20k, if you are paying someone else to do it. Link below for a 'local' conversion expert, although I have never heard anything about this company : http://www.prtechnology.com.au/servicing/left-to-right-hand-drive-conversions/ Seriously, I used to dislike LHD cars , until I actually drove one. Now I own one and I love it. It is great fun and you get used to it within hours, if not minutes.
