myred911 Posted 27September, 2013 Report Share Posted 27September, 2013 Greetings all, Road trip...Alpine Region Last week I washed the dust off my S2 and headed up the Hume with apprentice driver for a family event over the weekend. As we tootled into Goulburn for feed and sleep, we were amazed to spot a McLaren F1 leave a servo. Quite a rare observation. Many other notable cars we spotted in Manly, Paddo and Dalinghurst included a few Boxters, many Audis, Mercs and numerous small runabouts. I am sure that the owners of all these German cars all went to the same school and chose black, white and silver for their cars. All so boring. PM Sunday, a zoom down the Hume to overnight in Canberra, the War Memorial and Parliament house was next on the list of things-to-do before hitting the road to Cooma. Then to Merimbula for a feed of oysters and local fish. The Cooma-Bega leg was a great drive which I recorded on the GoPro. A vid of that leg is here. One downside of the GoPro is its desire to eat batteries. Best I could get was about 60 minutes. Otherwise it is a fantastic device, WiFi and iPhone App made it all so controllable. Clever people those GoPro types! The last leg of the 6 day escape was a squirt from Lakes Entrance to Bright via the Great Alpine Road. Luckily the region was clear of snow, "ergo" no chains required. The GoPro recorded parts of that trip, will post ASAP. Cheers to all rEd
Asyd Posted 27September, 2013 Report Share Posted 27September, 2013 Sounds like a great trip . Go pros do the trick. That McLaren may have been a current model , in white? Then it belongs to one of the drivers in the PCNSW super sprint series. We were down at Wakefield for the day. As someone joked on the day " only Porsche club with a McLaren as a course car" It was incredibly quick on road tyres, hauling in GT3 s Spectacular machine Cheers

9fan Posted 27September, 2013 Report Share Posted 27September, 2013 Hi Mate, Did the Lakes to Bright last year, GREAT drive. Have been trying to entice some PFA members to do the drives down that way. You should be the official camera man on our Tazzie Targa ? Cheers,Mark. myred911 Posted 27September, 2013 Author Report Share Posted 27September, 2013 Hi Mark, I thoroughly enjoyed the drive. Note to all: This is a PFA SMT must do! Good to try it next from Bright next time. Re the "official" paparazzi, will consider that option As I discovered later, the editing took 3X times as long to download, sort, trim and publish. Was also learning Windows 8 with MS Movie Maker so my poor brain was rather zapped at the end. Cheers rEd

For a few moments I thought it was a Lambo, but was quickly corrected when I got closer. Ahh my car spotting skills are lacking - sheesh Was a treat after all the boring cars on the Fume. Watching the McL on the track would have been a great experience. Cheers rEd
