Hi,

i'm doing some planning to take a small group north and base ourselves o'night in Port Macquarie to do Waterfall Way- Armidale- Oxley Highway- Port Macquarie.

i'm looking for a route from Taree to Port other than the highway, when i de-selected highways from Google maps i got this which looks interesting and appears sealed.

From Taree (54km): turn off the Pacific Highway at Taree then head west to Wingham. Cross over the railway and head north on the Comboyne road. The mountain road is winding and has approximately 19kms of gravel surface. This road is not recommended for caravans and large trailers. You will pass through beautiful forests, see stunning vistas, you may see lyrebirds, pademelons (small wallaby) and other wildlife.

wont be going that way ...

Sounds like a great drive you have planned Craig.

OZ all those roads will probably be a bit rough in spots now, but from the Dungog end onto the Buckets Way is pretty good now into Gloucester.

I'm new to Porsche, have just ordered a Cayman S which should arrive by september. … yes, waiting will be hard! I am interested in opinions on the best drives out of Newcastle.  Any other tips?
