My first post.

I've been reading a little on the forum lately as I'm looking at the 986s.

It seems like a good entry to the Porsche family for me. The 987 Cayman originally caught my eye. A beautiful car in my opinion.

I'm not frightened off by the IMS issue.

I have much to learn and welcome your input if you're inclined. John

welcome to the forum John,

I'm sure you'll get a lot out of the pages and wisdom of the members here.

Great choice of car, get out and drive as many as you can.

oh and of course keep us updated on your search.

We love pictures here

Welcome aboard John - I think the 987 Cayman is also a wonderful car.  Take your time with the search & drive as many as you can.  Don't forget that the 987 Boxster is pretty much the same car (give or take a poofteenth of horsepower & rigidity) so for a slight trade off in precision (how many track days will you really do?) you can take the roof down at the press of a button.  I'm a bit biased here as our 987 Boxster is really starting to grow on me :)  You've got some great drives up there once you make a purchase...

Regards,

Gavin

I just realized I forgot to update this thread.

I have bought a 986s 2001 Boxter. It has BBS wheels which look great.

It came with issues, all of which I am able to repair myself. I'm loving the project, and the drive OMG...

Love the soft top, once you're inside the car you loose any comprehension of it. Plus you can put it down n look sexy. Well the car does anyhow.

I'll get photos happening.

Porsche is intoxicating....but you all know that.
