Stew F Posted 9November, 2014 Report Share Posted 9November, 2014 We've come over to Tasmania for a week. Currently in Launceston and have realised that I have no brake lights. I think the brake switch on the master cylinder has failed. I have a spare switch with me but I don't have the right size ring spanner. 22mm I think. I checked the circuit and it has power to the lights. Is there anyone in launceston that could help me out? Thanks heaps.
tazzieman Posted 9November, 2014 Report Share Posted 9November, 2014 What have you checked so far? I changed my switch with an adjustable spanner from memory , mind you I have a LHD car. If you can get to Hobart I'll try & help.
Stew F Posted 9November, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 9November, 2014 I put a jumper wire in the plug and the lights came on. I have a shifter. Might give it a go in the morning. Otherwise I will probably just go to a mechanic somewhere here.
Stew F Posted 9November, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 9November, 2014 Oops, forgot to say thanks for the offer of assistance. I'll see how I get on. We are planning on being in Hobart in a few days.
Stew F Posted 9November, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 9November, 2014 I was able to get it sorted. Managed to get it out with my shifter. Have lights again. That's the second time I've changed this thing this year. I think I will change it to a mechanical switch when I get home.

Simonk Posted 9November, 2014 Report Share Posted 9November, 2014 Well done getting it off with a shifter. I thought a deep socket would be the only way.
Stew F Posted 9November, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 9November, 2014 More luck than skill Simon. Last time I used a ring spanner and got it out OK. Truth be known it was probably a bit easier with the shifter.
