I inspected this in NY last year ; it is an amazing antique and well worth visiting (you get to see the Concorde and space shuttle components nearby as a bonus).

This popped up on my news feed.

I saw a doco about it years ago. Pre flight it drips fuel, but it seals up due to the heat from the friction of the air at flight speeds. Amazing piece of engineering.

A great irony of the A-12 and SR71 programmes, was that the titanium used to build the planes to spy on the Soviet Union was sourced from...the Soviet Union!  :lol:

 

 

I saw a doco about it years ago. 

 

There have been a few good ones on foxtel recently about the A-12 and area 51
