k1200 Posted 17February, 2015 Report Share Posted 17February, 2015 Hi, has anyone had their gearbox oil changed? I am having trouble sourcing the correct oil which i believe is Mobilube PTX75W-90. Porsche part number is 0004 320 420. Mobil distributor has recommended Mobilube SHC75W-90 as a substitute. Can anyone confirm that this an acceptable substitute? Peter M Posted 17February, 2015 Report Share Posted 17February, 2015 You can check the specs to compare lubricants in the product data sheets on the Mobil oil website: http://www.exxonmobil.com/pdssearch/search.aspx?chooseLanguage=en&CountryValueAlso discussion here might interest you:http://rennlist.com/forums/997-gt2-gt3-forum/482501-mobilube-ptx-transaxle-gear-box-oil.html

It's popular in the UK in the GT3 community, I've run it (and swepco 201 which wasn't as good for my UK driving conditions) in my LSD transaxle as well. Here's some extra info - http://www.lufteknic.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=Mobil75-90delvac&Category_Code=lubricants The Delvac is marketed as Mobil SHC outside the US. Peter M Posted 17February, 2015 Report Share Posted 17February, 2015 So Kelly, you should be able to buy that locally from a Mobil depot as it's used in trucks as well commonly?http://www.mobil.com/AP-English-LCW/heavydutyoils_au_transmission-products_mobil-delvac-synthetic-gear-oil.aspx
k1200 Posted 17February, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 17February, 2015 i wouldnt have thought that oil would be easy to freight in from overseas? But $46 from the US is very tempting...
Peter M Posted 18February, 2015 Report Share Posted 18February, 2015 I've bought oil off Amazon before. Quick and convenient and sure beats ringing around trying to find a needle in a haystack!
