HECTOR Posted 25August, 2011 Report Share Posted 25August, 2011 Hello forum, Just got my first 85 911 Carrera Targa and managed to find and down load a service manual for it which has numerous torque settings for different parts. My question is how accurate are the torque wrenches bought at tool shops including Bunnings.I have looked at many brands but most of them seem to be manufactured in China and Taiwan.I guess you get what you pay for but are they sufficient enough to be accurate for use on my 3.2 engine?(got a feeling I know what the answer is going to be). thanks in advance Phil
Guest vas930 Posted 25August, 2011 Report Share Posted 25August, 2011 Hi Hector. Great to hear you got the car. I have had a few TRs in my time and found its one tool worth spending a bit more. Some of the cheaper ones look OK. If you do buy a cheaper TR, check it side by side with one you know to be accurate. A kind auto mech will check it if you ask. Better to lash out on this one. A good one will last your whole life. Good luck.
jnr356 Posted 25August, 2011 Report Share Posted 25August, 2011 cheap ones can be fine to start with, but may go out of calibration after a while you get what you pay for had my warren and brown for years and get it calibrated every so often, never much wrong with it though
jb84911 Posted 16March, 2013 Report Share Posted 16March, 2013 Hi forum, I'm about to purchase a torque wrench(or two). I'll probably go with the warren and brown deflecting beam. Any suggestions re. size (ft/lbs) would be much appreciated. 3.2 Carrera Regards John
