D2000 Posted 31May, 2016 Report Share Posted 31May, 2016 i am considering purchasing a 996 Carrera 4 that has had regular services and oil changes but most of them at a mechanic which does not appear have any particular Porsche experience. Is this an issue? The car has about 75,000kms on the clock and I will get a PPI done by a Porsche specialist before any purchase. Thanks in advance
Peter M Posted 31May, 2016 Report Share Posted 31May, 2016 An issue? If they knew what they were doing and the services were regular, no issue at all. There is not much specialist knowledge needed so wouldn't over think it.I'd let the outcome of the PPI guide you.
318touring Posted 31May, 2016 Report Share Posted 31May, 2016 You'd want to see that the applicable service regime was being followed. Therefore the minor, yearly, minor, major (minor and yearly are interchangeable-ish) regime was clearly indicated in the service book. If it's just oil changes it means that the belt, plugs and filters might still be original! Di sclaimer: that regime is the one that is applicable for 996.2 up until late 2003. spiller Posted 1June, 2016 Report Share Posted 1June, 2016 It should have oil and filter every year, brake fluid every other year and plugs and belts every four years (to put it simply).
