aadam Posted 26March, 2012 Report Share Posted 26March, 2012 Hello, I signed up to this forum to get some advice from real Porsche enthusiasts! I have always loved Porsche; in fact, I could say that I have always had an obsession with them. I even drew a picture for Ferdinand Porsche when I was young and he sent me a whole lot of real photographs of himself and Porsches - all signed in silver texta. Anyway, I want to buy an old 911. I only have a little over $30,000 to spend. There seems to be a few 911's around this price. Most sellers claim that their cars are in great condition. I am not sure at this price though. Are these cars junk, or, are they okay cars to buy? Thanks, AADAM
hugh Posted 26March, 2012 Report Share Posted 26March, 2012 Hi Adam, For around 30k you could possibly pick up a reasonble SC or maybe if your lucky and early 3.2 carrera. This is possible but would recommend you invest in a local porsche specialist to complete a checklist - just so you know what your getting yourself into. I know HarrisonsRRR (Spencer) completes these for around $400, best investment and advise I can give. Good luck! Hugh.
JustJames Posted 26March, 2012 Report Share Posted 26March, 2012 What Hugh said. The cost of a pre-purchase inspection pales to insignificance against what you could end up spending on sorting out a car that needs expensive TLC. James

PCM911T Posted 27March, 2012 Report Share Posted 27March, 2012 Adam, get onto the Porsche Club Queensland site. A 3.2 911 there for $30,000 might be a good buy for your money. get it checked out though. An earlier , say longnose 901, is going to cost you more. If you had $46,000 there is a magic tarmac prepared 901 for sale on the Australian TYP 901 Registry at the moment. At that price it's a steal!
