chris_f Posted 20September, 2012 Report Share Posted 20September, 2012 Hi All, I just picked up a 1991 Porsche 944 S2 with bridge spoiler and am looking to trade hatches with someone that has the earlier model rubber spoiler. I believe swapping hatches will be easier than trying to uninstall/reinstall the spoilers given the differing trim pieces, screws etc. I'm willing to do a straight swap, but only if your rubber spoiler and hatch are in excellent condition, as I believe the bridge spoiler is harder to come by and generally sell for more. Thanks! Chris
wasserkuhl Posted 25September, 2012 Report Share Posted 25September, 2012 Its not that hard to swap hardware!!! Its harder to find an older Hatch that has not delaminated at the top. I have a perfect Hatch as spare, but it has no rubber spoiler sorry! Keep the bridge spoiler..............the rubber one dates it !!!!
jnr356 Posted 26September, 2012 Report Share Posted 26September, 2012 spot on,alot of the early ones now have the frame separating from the glass(causing very annoying creaks among other things) pain in a#$e job and time consuming
chris_f Posted 26September, 2012 Author Report Share Posted 26September, 2012 Cheers for the input guys! Good to know the spoiler hardware is easily interchangeable. The bridge spoiler is starting to grow on me.. but the offer is still open if anyone wants to trade.
9fan Posted 26September, 2012 Report Share Posted 26September, 2012 Hi Chris, What colour is your car ? The bridge spoilers only came in black. I have a Red S2 and painted it Red, really makes the car look special ! Leave it on ! Cheers,Mark.
chris_f Posted 27September, 2012 Author Report Share Posted 27September, 2012 Hi Mark, The car is black, so the spoiler already matches .. Nice, that'd look pretty damn good on a red car! Slowly being convinced here.. I'm surprised there's not more love for the rubber spoilers though, always thought it really suited the squared off rear end
wasserkuhl Posted 27September, 2012 Report Share Posted 27September, 2012 And a tip to stop the hatch delaminating - lubricate the hinges at the top everytime you was the car...........the hinges bind up and speed up the delamination............
