NaFe Posted 5January Report Share Posted 5January Searching a CDI box for 911 SC 1981 engine (preferrably Melbourne) and depending on what the going rate is these days Following some tuning yesterday after my rebuild I went to start the engine this morning and the engine wouldnt fire. Conclusion is that I need a replacement CDI box Fuel, but no spark. 1. I tested the red 15 live wire to the CDI box and was reading 12.4V 2. I measured resistance between 7and 31d and no measurement. 3. cranking the engine, I had no spark from HD lead. 4. ignition on, I had near no voltage at coil (either terminal - white, not brown) 5. I opened up the back of the CDI box and this is what I found: In hind sight, on a couple of instances the tacho dropped its signal, which a bit of research seems to be a symptom of a CDI box on its was out? NaFe Posted 6January Author Report Share Posted 6January Problem resolved. You can just about see the break in the "wire" on pin 31/1 to the PCB board. Cheers tk111, 81SC and Peter M
