XLR8 Posted 2February Report Share Posted 2February Looking for an Auto 944. Preferably >85.5, but a solid early car works as well. Not afraid of a bit of work, but not after a full resto project ... I am located in Northern NSW, so cars more local are obviosuly easier, but happy to travel for the right car. Let me know if you know of, or see any ... XLR8 Posted 4February Author Report Share Posted 4February Thanks Aido! I have inspected that one. It's a LOT of work. No service history. Bodges here and there. Needs a new dash (I hate replacing dashboards). Paint is only OK and does need some work. Not driveable (to confirm anything works) either - so your essentially buying an incomplete and (somewhat) unknown project, with a buggered gearbox. A running and driving early car (perhaps in better condition) is probably only worth about what he's asking. I missed out on an immaculate early car with a fully rebuilt gearbox (receipts for $4.8k!). It sold for $18.5k. Absolutely nothing to do. That car still took the seller months to move. Later cars (>85.5) in good condition (so only minor stuff to sort) seem to disappear from the market when advertised at around $18-20k mark (and I am sure there's some haggling). *Edited* Haven't discounted this one, but am concerned that the rabbit hole might be way deeper than it appears ...
