rangiegaz Posted 8August, 2023 Report Share Posted 8August, 2023 Drove the '82 930 for 100k's last weekend ,but 15k's from home it just suddenly stopped, as if I'd pulled the coil wire. Tried to restart and it spun over easily ,but didn't fire . After about 15 mins. and ready to call truck, I tried again and away she went and didn't miss a beat on the way home, I've started it every day since and parked it in the dark garage with the engine bay exposed and no sparking visible. I realise hard to diagnose without instruments ,but was wondering if others have had similar issue or have ideas. Rangiegaz
9er Posted 8August, 2023 Report Share Posted 8August, 2023 The green wire feed to the distributor is prone to damage on 930.
OBRUT Posted 9August, 2023 Report Share Posted 9August, 2023 I’d check the fuel pump relay. They go flaky for a while before they die.
rangiegaz Posted 9August, 2023 Author Report Share Posted 9August, 2023 Didn't cough and splutter like fuel running out ,it stopped dead like no spark. Checked green wire ,but appears from initial inspection ok, but maybe more thorough look required. Thanks for input
GregAx Posted 10August, 2023 Report Share Posted 10August, 2023 Could be your CDI going bad, it's common if they experience heatsoak from a long drive, or could be a bad connection. From what your describing, it does sound electical, however don't rule out fuel related qwirks. If your keen on working out the issue yourself, head over to the Pelican US forums, much more technical information than what you'll find on here. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-930-turbo-super-charging-forum/547032-sticky-common-answers-why-my-car-doesnt-start.html
