VinnieChase Posted 1December, 2013 Report Share Posted 1December, 2013 Dear fellow Porsche fans Today I've noticed an clicking sound from the rear of my 997 c2s when the car is in motion. The sound doesn't seem to be related to the engine rev but rather related to the vehicle speed. Does any of you have similar issue in the past? Or have an idea what the cause might be? Cheers, Vinnie
T-Man Posted 1December, 2013 Report Share Posted 1December, 2013 Not the most technical answer but......have you checked for a stone lodged in the tyre?
StevepGT3 Posted 1December, 2013 Report Share Posted 1December, 2013 or worse maybe a screw, i have had a few and they sound as you describe
maxy Posted 1December, 2013 Report Share Posted 1December, 2013 CV joints maybe. They make a clicking sound when worn out. Try weaving from side to side. If the noise changes, gets louder or quieter it'll probably be CVs
TINGY Posted 1December, 2013 Report Share Posted 1December, 2013 I agree with Maxy probably a cv joint. Totally do-able yourself although I don't know what type of cv joint they are on your car, probably requires re-lubrication with grease. Mine only required re-packing with grease not a hard job if you have a bit of time and a little mechanical knowledge.
