firstone Posted 7June, 2014 Report Share Posted 7June, 2014 I had deal to purchase an 04 50th anniversary boxter 2 days ago until the owner informed me it was stolen and now found burnt. Very disappointed on both sides. I'm back in the market now. I'm not sure how to make one more secure than the stock system when I get one. Pauly Posted 8June, 2014 Report Share Posted 8June, 2014 Just don't leave the roof open!! Honestly though. If someone wants the car, they'll do anything to take it. Alarms and all that just make it take a little longer to steal. My dads best mate had a VK SS Group A. he use to chain the peddles and gear stick together so you cannot move any, club lock on the steering wheel. Pretty sure he had an alarm in it too. Still got stolen from his driveway while it was all locked up chained up..
Harvs11 Posted 9June, 2014 Report Share Posted 9June, 2014 Stolen then burned. That sounds like joy riders to me. Having an obvious security device might make the opportunistic thief move on to an easier target. But like Pauly said, if they really want it then it's gone. I think it was Sam Newman who claimed he never locks the doors on his soft top Mustang. And he never leaves any thing of value in the car. That way the roof doesn't get slashed if some lowlife wants to try for some pocket money from the ashtray.
tazzieman Posted 10June, 2014 Report Share Posted 10June, 2014 An automatic trans with very loud exhaust is my security blanket right now. One of those tracking devices would be handy for those living in crime ridden areas, viz the "mainland"
