Zelrik911 Posted 14July, 2014 Report Share Posted 14July, 2014 Have a look at this thread on Impact bumpers UK If these fit our SCs , then they only cost about GBP31 each in UK (check if our SCs have 8mm bolts and 25 splines, then they may fit & they are genuine GKN Germany Lobro CV Joints ) http://www.impactbumpers.com/forum/index.php?/topic/23350-are-911-cv-joints-the-same-as-ford-sierra/ 1/ size 13, 100mmm OD, 32mm thick, 86mm PCD, 6x 8mm bolts, used on all other IB 911 models http://www.prolinx.biz/pages/Products/ViewProduct/21561-GKN-100mm-CV-Joint/ 2/ Genuine GKN Germany Lobro CV Joints. Russ Posted 15July, 2014 Report Share Posted 15July, 2014 http://www.fcpeuro.com/products/porsche-cv-joint-911-912-42243011289 http://www.fcpeuro.com/products/porsche-cv-joint-boot-911-912-42343001555 I haven't bought CV Joints from them (the last ones I did were the same brand but on the back of a Mercedes) I've bought heaps of things from FCP Euro now (AC Compressor, engine parts, heater hoses, suspension bits) and they've been great every time. Might be worth sending them a message and asking about a deal on a complete 'kit'
Caledonian Posted 15July, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 15July, 2014 Hmmm... not too bad, $378 landed cost for 4 joints or $643 for 2 complete driveshafts.
tazzieman Posted 16July, 2014 Report Share Posted 16July, 2014 Are the old ones shagged out?
Caledonian Posted 16July, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 16July, 2014 Are the old ones shagged out? One has a fair bit of radial play on both joints that i doubt any re-packing of grease will help. The other one has some radial play on the inner joint but the outer one feels ok. All the boots are in good condition and still look fresh, my theory is the PO had them repacked and fitted new boots as they might have been serviceable at the time? tazzieman Posted 16July, 2014 Report Share Posted 16July, 2014 Me being me would dissemble them and check the degree of wear. Replacing them is not an insignificant expense ; I saved $600 on my last "rebuild". But I really don't mind getting a bit grubby! Certainly not as bad a job as those mericans make out. Caledonian Posted 19July, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 19July, 2014 Yeah, I'm a bit old school that way too, I will try to find a way to repair something if I can. Time permitting, I'll try to get one of the off the shaft today and see what condition it in once cleaned up.
