tazzieman Posted 20August, 2014 Report Share Posted 20August, 2014 Mate had this component fail on a DE day , dumped all coolant next to the track. Apparently it's a bit of an issue with Caymans ; has anyone else had this happen?
JustJames Posted 20August, 2014 Report Share Posted 20August, 2014 From where I sit, it's too early to tell with the M97 engine; I sell some 987/997 water pumps. But I sell many 986/996 water pumps. Anecdotal evidence is that replacing the drive belt is a precursor to water pump replacement.Maybe your mate's Cayman just got a very big fright. Barks Posted 20August, 2014 Report Share Posted 20August, 2014 When I bought mine I got Zig at CCMP's to give it the once over and a service..the water pump had started to weep slightly so he changed it over, apparently this is common. If they do let go it can happen quickly as there's not a lot of coolant in the system.
