Cam Arnott Posted 28August, 2014 Report Share Posted 28August, 2014 Hi Guys The '70E project car is going to get some a/c at some stage - Its pretty much a must if you are going to drive the car all year round up here and the car is always going to be a bit of a bitsa with a 3.2 engine that originality is not a big issue. Can anyone post photos of the Retroaire under dash unit for reference? Their website photos are terrible! I'd also love to see pics of the Autohaus kit if anyone has one? Lastly do these kits involve mounting the evaporator /blower in the passenger footwell? Any noise issues? Thanks gang

Peter M Posted 30August, 2014 Report Share Posted 30August, 2014 So Cam are you thinking about one of their under dash units or doing the Retroair upgrade of the standard Porsche system and just retro fitting into your car? I've noticed that Retroair and Griffith source some of their stuff from Vintageair. Their website may interest you:http://www.vintageair.com/
Simonoz Posted 30August, 2014 Report Share Posted 30August, 2014 Cam Somewhere stashed away I've got a factory aircon setup for a 70/72 911. The under dash slimline vented one. Includes the compressor, lines (cut but good for templates), the whole system. We took it out of a 72E years ago. If it would be any good for photos or specifications me know and Id be glad to help. Cam Arnott Posted 17September, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 17September, 2014 Thanks Guys I've now sourced a period correct Behr under dash unit and the compressor brackets for a 3.2 engine. Having talked to Autohaus I'm probably going to go with their system, with the above bits being the only parts they don't supply. Just have to wait for the money tree to regenerate!
