Stew F Posted 4September, 2014 Report Share Posted 4September, 2014 All the brackets I have seen that bolt to the strut towers have a flat bottom face, but the 2 faces where the bracket bolts on (on the strut tower) are angled. I.e. not parallel to each other. So what's the process here for bolting the bracket onto the tower? Do you put a packer on one of the faces, or just tighten the bracket down onto the faces? Thanks. T-Man Posted 4September, 2014 Report Share Posted 4September, 2014 The connecting rod is usually attached to the brackets via rose joint, so the angle becomes irrelevant.
Stew F Posted 4September, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 4September, 2014 Yes I know the angle of the bracket doesn't matter, but clamping a flat face down onto 2 faces that are not planar to each other isn't good engineering practice. Stresses the bracket & all. But it appears that this is what is required. I think I will use a spacer on one of the faces. They measure about 12° out of parallel. T-Man Posted 4September, 2014 Report Share Posted 4September, 2014 Seems that the correct braces are machined to allow for the degree of fixing offset. http://www.911chips.com/C1strut.htm
