tell Posted 17December, 2014 Report Share Posted 17December, 2014 My wife recently purchased a 1978 924 coupe and we are planning on a gradual restoration. Our "new" car needs a steering arm, or steering shaft. Am hoping we might find something in Australia without the need and frustration of looking overseas. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Tell.

tazzieman Posted 17December, 2014 Report Share Posted 17December, 2014 If you have no luck , what I did (on my '81) was order a Volkswagen Super Beetle VW-133419951 shaft from http://classicgarage.com/ ; the splines are the same but the new uni joints need to go on the old shaft as they are different lengths. Made a huge different to the steering tightness!
Russ Posted 17December, 2014 Report Share Posted 17December, 2014 if it's a VW part then you could also checkout Vintage Vee Dub Supplies or Volksbahn too (as they're in Australia)
tell Posted 17December, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 17December, 2014 Am blown away by the instant support. Thank you all very much. Will contact Autohaus Hamilton and am currently looking at aporshepart website. Not sure about the VW part, but will also make a mental note of that. tazzieman Posted 17December, 2014 Report Share Posted 17December, 2014 Don't forget there are a number of VW parts on these cars as it was originally designed as a VW sports car. Brakes (rear drums are Beetle) , steering , suspension etc
