ByronBayChris Posted 24March, 2016 Report Share Posted 24March, 2016 Just planning our return trip from Rennsport, and want some opinions on Tamworth to Coffs via Waterfall Way, or Tamworth to Port Macq via Oxley Hwy. I've done Waterfall Way in a 7 metre motorhome......but not the Oxley hwy section.
WOKA Posted 24March, 2016 Report Share Posted 24March, 2016 Dorrigo mountain has recently been resealed, and is a great road, and into Dorrigo from Ebor is great too, but not enough twisty stuff so its short lived..Else, how about you skip Waterfall way and head through Dorrigo out to Megan, through Ulong and into Coramba - from there turn left up to Grafton, or right into Coffs.. Great roads out from Megan.. Else, from Ebor, head out to Tryingham, down through Nymbodia, Coutts Crossing and into Grafton.. Another great run.. Head North up the Summerland Way and turn right at CAsino and follow another fast road out to Woodburn I wouldn't go to Port as the road works North of Kempsey through to Urunga are hellish at the moment.. hugh Posted 24March, 2016 Report Share Posted 24March, 2016 stayin da night on our return I can put you in touch with my dad, I'm sure he would enjoy giving you the rundown on the cheapest place to get a roast on any given night. Be sure to check out the new park with your boys too, it's actually quite impressive!
OZ930 Posted 24March, 2016 Report Share Posted 24March, 2016 stayin da night on our return thanks. Lots to look at through google maps. I'll post my choices.I don't know where you are staying, but if you need, I can offer a lock up garage. Funny thing is, I keep losing the key to unlock it again. I don't know how that happens.Kable Avenue park could be worth a look, as Hugh said. Can't help with the latest on those roads as I haven't driven them in years. Sounds like WOKA has the info. ByronBayChris Posted 25March, 2016 Author Report Share Posted 25March, 2016 Thanks. Woka has the goods. I'm staying at a hotel in Tamworth with off-street parking. Tamworth is not like Bankstown, so it should be ok.Better get some extra keys cut, mate, as the stash of 911 on the garage must almost be full. Keep it in mind in case the weather turns. People keep talking about something called "rain". Had to Google it. Sounds like a scam. Water comes down from the sky …yeah right !! WOKA Posted 27March, 2016 Report Share Posted 27March, 2016 thanks. Lots to look at through google maps. I'll post my choices.Just an update on this - I did the reverse leg, Coramba to Dorrigo this morning.. Whilst a BRILLIANT C+ road, there were two a 800m dirt sections followed by a 25km dirt section that was slow.. I managed it just fine, but then I'm a bit of a bushie at heart.. If you're wheeling your pride and joy through there, maybe give it a bit of a wide birth
