James P Posted 20June, 2017 Report Share Posted 20June, 2017 Just wondering if the fuel tank is pressurised on my 81 SC? car runs just fine with no issues & is 100% standard apart from a new 993 fuel cap that came with the car... i don't think its any different from the standard SC fuel capWhen i unscrew/open the fuel cap a lot of pressure is released is this normal? Zelrik911 Posted 21June, 2017 Report Share Posted 21June, 2017 No - I dont think so.Fuel (a lot of it) is returned to the tank as per CIS design & this probably displaces some air.I would check your tank vent & EGR hoses as they might have clogged up allowing some pressure to build up
tazzieman Posted 21June, 2017 Report Share Posted 21June, 2017 Released, or is it a sucking? 928 and 944 caps allow vacuum "release" when cracked open.Anyway it's a good idea to go through all the venting hoses , they get pretty brittle over time.
