TINGY Posted 22December, 2018 Report Share Posted 22December, 2018 I used to go and watch this race as a young fella, not so much as i got older but it was always a great day and one of the most spectacular events in the country.
LeeM Posted 22December, 2018 Report Share Posted 22December, 2018 How good is that? Great setting for a hillclimb too. Isn't that guy in the FJ, Stan Adler, a prominent historic/Group S Porsche racer nowadays?
Airhead Posted 22December, 2018 Report Share Posted 22December, 2018 Have to be the same Stan. Ah Hillclimbing. Like a day in the police force. 8 hours of boredom and 90 seconds of sheer terror.
OZ930 Posted 22December, 2018 Report Share Posted 22December, 2018 Rough road, even just to drive up in a standard car. How they got traction is a mystery. Saw one car turn left at craven filter corner, through the fence, down the cliff landing on the rocks. Escaped uninjured. Colin Bond hooked IYK-000 on the bank up the "Pinch" Good to see Peter Mullin too, nice guy, lived nearby in Kahiba. Track was ruined when the boulder fell on the track just past the start line. They didn't remove the boulder until after the Hillclimb was cancelled forever.
