New Brake Pads?

I have found pelican parts to be very competitive for this type of stuff even when you account for postage from America.

Are you doing any Track work in the car? if not just OEM (Texstar) pads are fine then.

Pads are very easy to install, give it a go yourself! A Workshop will charge you $150+ to do this.

I would recommend the Pagid Pads for fast road/Track use. Texstar and/or mintes are fine for just normal road driving

Seriously, have a crack at replacement yourself and save some $$.

Did I read in a previous post somewhere today, that one of your pads fell out? Or was missing when you checked this morning?

If so was it from the same side you had a drama with yesterday?

I also recommend Pelican Parts for the new pads, get F and R at the same time if you can. Save a bit on postage, if you have to get rears later. Also worth getting your rotors checked that they are ok and still have plenty of metal on them. If not again PP at the same time.

So STD Mintex or Texstar will be just fine then.

All you will need is a metric socket set, some metric ring spanners and some allen keys.

If you don't have any of those then maybe ask a friend who is a Shed Fiend to assist you in exchange for beer tokens.

If ones fallen out you maybe missing other parts like retaining pins and clips as well. Only way to find out is to compare the affected side with the other side ( ie RH to LH ) to see 'whats missing'.

like any brake pad change check the condition of the discs and replace them if under thickness spec. or have them machined back to flat if needed. and be prepared for grubby hands for a couple of days after :P

Nothing fell out and yes it's on the same side as the one I mentioned yesterday.

And Wasser I might just give it a go I hope I don't screw things up so to speak lol

Sorry mate, I misunderstood you when you said the brake pad was gone. I thought you meant it was obviously not there, thats what happens when you get old and senile...(me not you of course)

Also agree with Harves on the rotors etc, and I had a full alignment done on mine the other day and it was $99.00 just for your info to know what to roughly expect.

Check of the seller says he is 99% and comments from his customers are all good, and he is certainly in the brake business. BUT.........

LOOKS GOOD.....but I wouldn't. They must be crap he could put a lot more on that price and still undercut everyone else.

Plain packaging also....who knows what the compound is going to be.

A lot of the other stuff he has sold is $75.00 $80.00 and so on. Why so cheap on these???

DM, the brake warning light comes on when the pads are worn beyond a certain point. It works by having a loop of wire parallel to the disc surface.

When the brake pad wears past a certain point, the loop of wire rubs against the surface of the brake disc and wears through. At that point, an electrical circuit goes open and your warning light comes on. And then you've got around 1,000km to change the pads.

The noise you're getting (based on your other posts) is at least partly caused by surface rust on the face of the brake disc. Brake noise is not necessarily caused by worn brakes.

If the car is pulling to one side under braking, then "more" braking is happening on the side that the car is pulling towards, or insufficient braking is happening on the opposite side.

That could be caused by contamination of the braking surface on one side, a caliper binding (or not releasing properly due to a partially collapsed brake hose), or a severely worn brake pad, or something else entirely.

It does sound like that perhaps you may have some uneven wear on the discs.

Check them for uneven grooving and rust pitting.

Do not, under any circumstances try to cut corners or save money on Brake components or Tires. These are fundemental to the performance and safety of the vehicle.

You may find if you simply just change the brake pads, the pulling to one side may still remain.

careful inspection of the discs, replacement or re-facing if neccessary, new fluid ,bleeding and inspection of all the flexible brake lines may well be required to diagnose and rectify your problem.

This is where it may be wise to have a specialist mechanic inspect your system and make recommendations. (Such as Autohaus)

I didn't realise you were having these other symptoms!
