tomo Posted 17February Report Share Posted 17February Just spent 5 hrs behind the wheel of the 996 , And it is the first time I have noticed the luggage in the frunk was warm, You could nearly call it hot , Temp gauge in the car sat just a smidge over the 80 mark, The .2 was in 2.5 _3000 rpm most of the time and performed effortlessly as usual, Any one else noticed this? The outside temp was hovering around 36 C.
sjm Posted 17February Report Share Posted 17February Yep, don't put the butter and cheese in there on the grocery run😲 tomo
Stepo Posted 17February Report Share Posted 17February I wouldn’t be concerned Tomo, it was pretty hot today, only a piece of sheet metal separating the baking sun from your luggage and no air getting into the frunk. Temp gauge sounds about normal. tomo

sjm Posted 17February Report Share Posted 17February Thought that due to the radiators, that are either side, also added to the heat. Have done trips away too, and luggage is toasty when unloading. tomo and mc968cs
AndrewM Posted 18February Report Share Posted 18February 😄 Do not get a Lotus Elise and but stuff in the boot. If you think the frunk gets hot...! tomo
Mttel Posted 22February Report Share Posted 22February I've noticed that the frunk of the 996 is noticeably warmer than the 986 Boxster (boot gets as warm as the 996 frunk). For the temp gauge like yours sits just above 80 most days. tomo
GT3MEZ Posted 22February Report Share Posted 22February What colour is the car in question? If is black/dark, I suspect that letting it just sit in the sun with the motor not running would result in the same outcome. tomo
tomo Posted 22February Author Report Share Posted 22February Yeh Na I have had the car for a couple of years and fairly familiar with its behaviour and habits it is very unusual for the car to get this hot , It was 39c which is damn hot 🔥 but has been in that temp before never bothered it, Radiator flush and coolent change in order me thinks. Oh and my Porka is Basalt Black
