When I ordered my wife's Macan I opted for the HomeLink system, which the sales guy did his best to try talk me out of. I knew it wouldn't work "out of the box", but figured it surely can't be that hard to get it working... turns out I was right.

I found a 433MHz remote relay on Amazon for $20 and after 15 minutes of fiddling had it working with my garage door opener. That relay (and others like it) should work with any garage (or gate) opener that has a set of accessory input terminals. Mine's a Merlin MR655MYQ, but most openers have accessory inputs (for an external button in your garage for example.
