Sportomatic Clutch/Pressure Plate/Throwout Bearing

Russ

Recommended Posts

okay, so I'm still looking for options - does anyone have on the shelf any of the below in a good condition from either a conversion or as spares:

Clutch

Pressure Plate

Throwout Bearing

the pressure plates are now NLA, and the clutch/pressure plate is ex Germany so i'm worried it'll take a while

Thanks in advance

Hey Russ,

Have you tried calling a couple of the Porsche specialists down here to see what they have sitting around or might be able to do for you?

Try Simon at Autowerks if you haven't already. Top guy, always willing to help out a Porsche lover. http://autowerks.com.au/porsche_central_coast/index.html

You may have already tried this but I'll mention it anyway.. even if Porsche Brisbane say they don't have one in stock and there is nothing showing in the country, I would still phone each dealer/supplier you can find and check for yourself. I have done this regularly in the past when a dealer has told us there is nothing in the country and surprise surprise! 3 phone calls later another dealer has one!

No guarantee and with the rarity of Sportomatic stuff the chances are slim but you never know?

Good hunting

yeah they do (I used to drive one) but I think the clutch disc is a different size 180mm vs. 190mm.

I've hopefully got a solution after finding some obscure German site for a Sachs part number and ordering from FCP Euro, There's also a guy on the Pelican forum with a throw out bearing and good pressure plate that I'm waiting to hear back from

just to update this, ended up getting a clutch plate from Porsche as a genuine part for $450 (they had stock in Australia) the throw-out bearing and pressure plate are now NLA with Sachs not making any more.

This only affects 925 Sportomatics with the 190mm clutch, the 180mm clutch setup of the earlier 905 Sportomatic boxes share components with the VW system which is available substantially cheaper.

Hi Russ,

I have a Sporto Gearbox I will likely never use, let me know if you need anything, based in Brisbane.

Cheers,

Aaron

Thanks Aaron, I got this sorted out and I'm actually pretty good for a while *fingers crossed*
