G50 Gearbox oil

Does anyone have experience with G50 Gear box oil.

Penrite recommend Trans Gear 75W-90 Semi syn.

Castrol recommend Syntrax 75W-90 Full syn.

Castrol at least mention PORSCHE (as well as Alfa Romeo, Subaru)

I know there is special Uber Porsche magic in there. ;) not just

gears like in your Falcadore.

Cheers

John

If you have any service records that mention what brand was used, I would stick with that. I do recall from researching this subject for my 915, that the G50 uses fully synthetic oil.

If you want to change the oil this Sunday I know a top bloke with a hoist :)

Does anyone have something like this for Sunday?-Tom Thumb Utility Pump 1 litre

http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Tom-Thumb-Pump-Utility-1-Litre.aspx?pid=284708#Cross

It will make our life much easier-they are $29.99 from SuperCheap and that's only around 250m away. Could save a whole lot of wasted oil.

I use a 1L garden sprayer. Even cheaper!

So after much online research, full syn 75W-90 seem to be the go, however as most sites are US based

hard to find the oil they reccommend locally.

So I think I might try this

however I dont have an LSD, so hope its OK.

MMMMMMM Maybe stick with the Castrol Syntrax 75W-90.

Maybe I'm over thinking this

Another option is to visit a reputable independent Porsche workshop that specilalises in the old stuff with a suitable container and purchase as much as you need of what there using? I'm sure many of then will accommodate this..
