Cam Arnott Posted 31March, 2014 Report Share Posted 31March, 2014 Pulled the trigger on this on the weekend. I've been looking around for something since I sold the ST Replica race car and this popped up in Darwin of all places! Not many early cars up here ;-) Bahia Red 1970 E with a 3.2 and 915 lurking under the yellow and sexy body kit. The goal is to drive the ugliness as is for a while and then take it back to original body style. I'm hoping to track down the original 2.2 engine for the car so guys please check your stash for engine # 6208151 Cheers Cam
Peter M Posted 31March, 2014 Report Share Posted 31March, 2014 Excellent!I must confess that I ogled your ST replica for many months last year and look forward to seeing what you do with this one.... :-)
D-banger Posted 31March, 2014 Report Share Posted 31March, 2014 Congrats Cam. It's hard to believe there is a 901 in there somewhere. I thought you were thinking air con 964 to beat the Darwin weather?
tazzieman Posted 1April, 2014 Report Share Posted 1April, 2014 Congrats , that's certainly a sleeper of sorts Has the Darwin moisture made ingress noises? I think many of us ogled the ST rep , without the wife watching!
Cam Arnott Posted 1April, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 1April, 2014 Thanks Guys Didn't know there was so much ST love out there I considered a lot of different cars but I've hankered for an E for a while and this one was the same vintage as me and local here in Darwin and the right money, and has some early panels with it so it was hard one to pass up! I've been teaching myself some resto skills on a '67 split screen kombi for the past 18 months and have really enjoyed the body work side of things (I swear its 50% rust) and was thinking about what to do next when this popped up. The kombi will take another year or so, and I'll just drive this one until I'm ready to pull it apart and take it back to the way it should be. I must say a/c would be a bonus up here…….might go into this one yet!
withers Posted 1April, 2014 Report Share Posted 1April, 2014 It's a great color but guessing not original? Congrats on a new project. It will be rewarding putting that car right - the poor thing!
