myred911 Posted 23April, 2014 Report Share Posted 23April, 2014 Was there with my trusty Nikon, shots being processed, will post a link asap. It was an ugly crash, glad drivers were Ok. rEd
FlatSix Posted 23April, 2014 Report Share Posted 23April, 2014 Nasty. Apparently deploying the fuel flap did little to stop a roll over.
9fan Posted 23April, 2014 Report Share Posted 23April, 2014 Appears the mazda had locked brakes after overtaking the other on the inside as he turned in ?
Quozl Posted 23April, 2014 Report Share Posted 23April, 2014 I was going to say WTF was the Mazda driver thinking going for that gap until I read in the other thread with the pics linked above and they mention that the Mazda had a total brake failure. Regardless both cars are a big mess but great to see both drivers are okay. Cheers Al
pocketscience Posted 23April, 2014 Report Share Posted 23April, 2014 Looked like a pretty aggressive move down the inside there... glad everyone walked away from it.
myred911 Posted 23April, 2014 Report Share Posted 23April, 2014 As promised here are the shots taken of this bingle. A sequence of images that results in "auto-carnage" "dismembering", shades of the monster crash Fabian Coulthard survived in 2010.
Stardust Posted 23April, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 23April, 2014 Great piccies, If his rear wheel had stayed on it might have kept the shiny side up!
MaxzmusSC Posted 23April, 2014 Report Share Posted 23April, 2014 Man guttered as I saw that 993 there last year and it was the neatest thing! Such bad luck!
Simonoz Posted 23April, 2014 Report Share Posted 23April, 2014 That'll buff out.........not! Such a shame. As if the value of these cars doesnt make it hard enough to justify racing them, along comes a Mazda bowling ball. I really feel for the owner. I do recall the lessons of Wanneroo Raceway which also has sand traps everywhere. Never turn the wheel once you're off in the trap, or you will roll, every time. A timely reminder as I will be there next week.
Airhead Posted 23April, 2014 Report Share Posted 23April, 2014 Fuel flap Nascar style. Nice. I thought Ric Shaw would have known better than to go for that gap.
Quozl Posted 23April, 2014 Report Share Posted 23April, 2014 I posted this earlier, though I guess not seen in my reply above but according to the reply in the piccies link in the first post, the Mazda's brakes had failed hence him not being able to stop and going for an impossible gap. Cheers Al
