MB911 Posted 25April, 2014 Report Share Posted 25April, 2014 Nicely put Nicko. One of my favorite quotes: "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. " - Edmund Burke I hope you have a great one mate ( "Duty First" ).

pocketscience Posted 25April, 2014 Report Share Posted 25April, 2014 Well said all, it's a great day to reflect on everything we have because of the sacrifice and efforts of others. My grandfather was in WWI (mostly in France) and the stories he told us as kids were utterly incredible and imprinted in my memories forever. I requested his service records a few years back and I'd recommend anyone with relatives who served to do the same - you only get photocopies obviously but they contain a wealth of (sometimes confronting) history that would otherwise be sitting on a shelf somewhere. Tit Posted 25April, 2014 Report Share Posted 25April, 2014 My grandfather was in the SS. obviously resisted the temptation to wear his medals on ANZAC day. Dad, sister and myself all served. Thanks for your thoughts. It's usually around April that I contemplate my regrets around leaving the RAAF. Civilian life will never match it... Corki944 Posted 25April, 2014 Report Share Posted 25April, 2014 Agree totally Tit........ Two years Army Reserves & six years Navy for me. Worst thing I ever did leaving the Navy but an ex-wife threating to take the kids can do that to you! The ironic thing is she left two years later anyway. Miss the lifestyle, miss the mates & comradery but life goes on. Best thing any young person could do these days & what a career. All the best to the ADF!
