PeterP Posted 18December, 2010 Report Share Posted 18December, 2010 Folks, I may have a car in my sights and now need to get an appraisal from a specialist in Melbourne or surrounds. Any suggestions or experiences that you may have had that you can share? The car is a 80's carrera. Appreciate any feedback, regards Peter

Appreciate any feedback, regards Peter Hi Peter, My last P-car purchase was a 993 Turbo purchased from a reputable dealer. It was a low kilometre example and to the untrained eye looked perfect. Given the purchase price and my low level of mechanical knowledge & skill, I decided to get a pre-purchase inspection. I took the car to the independent Porsche service centre who look after my cars, Jocaro Motors in Braeside. It was a formal, paid for inspection (about three to five hours work) with a written report. The result in my case showed a serious engine fault and some modifications that I would never had otherwise found. The usual suspects of Porsche service guys would do similar inspections. Weltmeister, Weissach, NinePlus to name three. You are absolutely doing the right thing. Good luck.

I thought the whole reason for reputable dealers asking for a premium price was because of the quality of the product they are selling

How is The Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy and Father Christmas working for you these days! And here I thought reputable dealers were just good for key rings, caps and the odd bunch of flowers...
