Fitting sway bar on a '79 SC

My '79 SC had its sway bar off when I bought it and I can't seem to be able to get it to fit. I never done this before so most likely its something stupid I am missing

I inserted one end into the bush on one side and slid it as far as it goes, now the other end is about 10mm wider than where it should be

Am I supposed to force it in place? How on earth am I able to force such a thing?

Thanks

Rafik

1. it doesn't go all the way to the end. The distance between bush and elbow should be equal either side.  It'll settle with use so it doesn't have to be exact.

2. make sure both wheels are off the ground or you'll never be able to fit it.

Slide one end of the swaybar partly in ,  and some muscle to bend the other into the other bushing. Lube the bushing with soap.

It takes some wiggling , but if I can do it with no hoist it should be a piece of cake for you!

Bump and push the steering/suspension about and it will as mentioned , settle.
