rafikdous Posted 31August, 2014 Report Share Posted 31August, 2014 My '79 SC had its sway bar off when I bought it and I can't seem to be able to get it to fit. I never done this before so most likely its something stupid I am missing I inserted one end into the bush on one side and slid it as far as it goes, now the other end is about 10mm wider than where it should be Am I supposed to force it in place? How on earth am I able to force such a thing? Thanks Rafik

SteamWolf Posted 31August, 2014 Report Share Posted 31August, 2014 1. it doesn't go all the way to the end. The distance between bush and elbow should be equal either side. It'll settle with use so it doesn't have to be exact. 2. make sure both wheels are off the ground or you'll never be able to fit it.
rafikdous Posted 1September, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 1September, 2014 Sorry, I should've mentioned its the front Yes wheels were off, the car was on a hoist
tazzieman Posted 2September, 2014 Report Share Posted 2September, 2014 Slide one end of the swaybar partly in , and some muscle to bend the other into the other bushing. Lube the bushing with soap. It takes some wiggling , but if I can do it with no hoist it should be a piece of cake for you! Bump and push the steering/suspension about and it will as mentioned , settle. dominicxu1 Posted 2September, 2014 Report Share Posted 2September, 2014 Use a ratchet strap to bend it slightly, its a good idea to use cable ties to secure the strap so it doesn't slip along the bar.Dominic.
rafikdous Posted 3September, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 3September, 2014 thanks Dominic, that's exactly what I was thinking. Good to know that it is an option and not a stupid one. Will try it. Just waiting of new rubbers. Where do you guys buy stuff from, BWA?
