tazzieman Posted 14September, 2014 Report Share Posted 14September, 2014 Strange , when I typed 917 in the search bar there was no result??? Let's fix that anomaly and feast on what Porsche used to be all about!

D-banger Posted 14September, 2014 Report Share Posted 14September, 2014 Hard to imagine having that much power under your right foot...and in such a lightweight car.
Pauly Posted 14September, 2014 Report Share Posted 14September, 2014 The sad thing is 10 seconds into the film i knew it was at laguna seca race way. Hard to imagine having that much power under your right foot...and in such a lightweight car. Yep, I guess that's why after the 917 they changed the rules. Watch the 197 Can-Am cars. They're even quicker!!!
tazzieman Posted 14September, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 14September, 2014 In 1969 the cars were far from sorted , especially aerodynamically : "they look pretty slippery , that should work" approach. The drivers were sh*t scared of them. It took the bug splatter observation to sort that minor issue out but not before several pairs of fireproof undies were soiled. The Can-Am ones were certainly quicker but for some reason not as stylish. Because I like my underwear clean , I'd be happy with a 917 chassis and a 3L AC engine. Turboed or not, it would be a hoot. Until you hit a wallaby. World's biggest bugs.
