andrew911 Posted 28October, 2015 Report Share Posted 28October, 2015 I am looking to upgrade the 3.0L engine in my 911 project car to a 3.2 or 3.6, and will have a 3.0L engine to sell. What would be a realistic price to ask for a 1984 3.0L engine, originally delivered in Canada, running very strong, no smoke, good compressionWhat do you guys think ? 9er Posted 29October, 2015 Report Share Posted 29October, 2015 Andrew, if it is a 3.0 it will not be an '84.That aside, if you take it to a mechanic and get a compression and a leak down test that will go some way toward supporting solid value.I would be in the $5- $7K range. 76' 911 Posted 5November, 2015 Report Share Posted 5November, 2015 Hi, I'm currently after a 3.0 to upgrade my 2.7 so if you have a 3.0 available this could do the trick. Would you be willing to part with it as yet?? As you can see this is my first post on the forum as it's the start of my search for. 3.0! Cheers, Jon
greg fisher Posted 14November, 2015 Report Share Posted 14November, 2015 Hi AndrewI am also after a 3.0 to run in my SC while the original is rebuilt.Don't want to start a bidding war with Jon but I am interested and ready to pull the tigger. I see you are also in Sydney. Would be straightforward to have one of the porsche specialists have a quick look before sale to get an idea of the engine's condition. andrew911 Posted 2December, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 2December, 2015 Had the comp and leak down done on the 3.0l motor, compo at 165-175, leak down 4-6%, oil pressure 30 at idle and 100 at 3000 ... not too bad considering it was a non-running barn find
