Sports Exhausts for 987.2 Boxster S

Hey All,

I have been looking at the options for Sports Exhausts systems for my 987.2 Boxster S.

In speaking with one of the local performance people today, they were recommending a brand called FI Exhaust http://www.fi-exhaust.com/product/porsche/987-2_boxster_cayman.html

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this brand as its not one that I've come across.

Cheers

I'm beginning to think no one has heard of them. OK different tack then.

If you have a 987 Cayman/Boxster S and you've got a sports exhaust fitted, can you let me know what you have and more importantly if you like it.

So far I've looked at:

Porsche Sports Exhaust (just under $5k fitted) - Only one I've heard in the flesh

FI Exhaust (just under $5k fitted)

SuperSprint (about $4k fitted)

Any advice?

Diggin,

I don't have a 987.2 so take the following with a grain of salt.

I guess it depends what you are looking for - a better sound or a performance gain?

I recently had Autohaus do some work on my exhaust for the sole reason of getting a better sound. It was a much cheaper (but not cheap) option than a new exhaust system and the result is pretty good - it certainly does sound better. They essentially send it away to an exhaust guy and they cut it open, do some mods internally, and stick it back together.

May be worth considering if it is purely sound, and has the benefits of looking stock.

Other advice is do a ring around a few specialists - mist will be able to point you in the direction you are after.

thanks Baso. Its a bit of column A, and a bit of column B, but mostly the sound. As for the look, stock is pretty ordinary so I'm happy to lose that.

Not practical (and I must admit a degree of unwillingness) for me to have the car done outside of Canberra, so Autohaus isn't really an option - unless they sell complete systems that I can get installed here.

Not that many specialists in canberra unfortunately (that I am aware of at any rate), if you know of any let me know.

Only people I've spoken with so far are Gulsons (Porsche), JRacing (FI Exhaust) and Best Exhausts (SuperSprint)

Hardest damn thing with exhausts is you cant really hear them before you buy, so its almost a lucky dip (a damn expensive lucky dip)

Thanks guys, You have to forgive me, but do these second hand exhausts come apart? I could see the freight alone would be expensive if they dont. Not to mention they would probably be subject to damage.

Bit of a moot point on the 2nd hand at present as I'm only researching - no spare $$$

Mate do a search on here for Fister Exhausts.

From memory there was at least one video posted of one on Nicos Boxster, it sounded great.

FISTER EXHAUSTS great to deal with (Darren). Comes from U.s But it is similar system to what BASO was talking about above.   Price was sensational, just under a grand landed in MELB.  That was on a boat, too big and expensive to put on a plane. Sounded sensational, doubt if it gave it any extra power.   Keeping in mind the 986 Boxster is a bloody big muffler, and completely different to what the 987.2 is.   But probably worth an email across to him.
