Merv Posted 4August, 2019 Report Posted 4August, 2019 I want to replace my alternator/fan belt and the AC belt. The alternator belt is a Porsche part (as its the unused one in the tool kit that came with the car). I looked at Dayco online and they seem to have both V belts. Where do folk her buy their drive belts? I am concerned about getting the correct length for each of them. Quote

autojack Posted 5August, 2019 Report Posted 5August, 2019 I just went straight to the dealer. The alternator belt was $10 or so, and then I knew I was getting the right thing. Read a lot of stories on Pelican of people buying that belt at an auto parts store and ending up with something that was too small. I still haven't gotten around to installing it. Some people talk about pulling the fuel pump relay and cranking the engine to get the belt seated. I was trying to figure out how common that approach is, since it's not in the shop manual. Quote
Merv Posted 5August, 2019 Author Report Posted 5August, 2019 I am coming around to that view as well. Quote
Big Dav Posted 6August, 2019 Report Posted 6August, 2019 I got one from a dealer in Melbourne for my 3.2. It took a day to come in but it does have "Porsche" on it and wasn't very expensive! I got a free coffee and had a good look at the showroom at the same time. Win win Quote
OZ930 Posted 6August, 2019 Report Posted 6August, 2019 This may be a start for you, these are the belts on my 930 alternator belt: Optibelt AVX 10x710 air con belt: Gates 13A1205 This might help...or confuse Quote
Merv Posted 6August, 2019 Author Report Posted 6August, 2019 That is very helpful! We should all watch that video. I found the fan belt online. Mine is an Optibelt Porsche labelled one. Quote
911 Posted 26November, 2023 Report Posted 26November, 2023 A bit of an old topic, but does anyone know the correct part number for the fan belt? Trying to chase up a spare, as it's probably not wise to use the one in the tool kit. Seems to be two different ones: https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/9991923135A.htm?pn=999-192-313-5A-OEM&SVSVSI=590&DID=202383 https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/9991921765A.htm?pn=999-192-176-5A-M100&SVSVSI=590&DID=221152 Thanks Quote
