Tuthill Rally 911 rebuild

Recommended Posts

A few of us from PCT visited a local workshop on our last EMR, and one of the feature cars was a Tuttle 911 in the course of a rebuild and preparation for a couple of major rallies next year - SE African the first, and then the Round the World.  Plenty of redundancy being built into the car - dual fuel systems etc - in case of breakdowns / problems.  Looks stunning, great resto for a car with significant international and Australian history.

The quality and shear amount of fab work in that shell is just absolutely mind boggling. And @TwoHeadsTas do mean Tuthill?

Actually, think you're right, sorry about that.  I did some google searching and obviously worked on what I typed rather than what came up in the search.  Doh!!!

Either way keep those pics coming! It’s not everyday we can get a detailed insight into a car like that

I'm a fairly regular visitor to the workshop, and both my Touareg and wife's 981 are due for services over next couple of months......  Will keep taking photos for sure

Very cool!

What is the black bar under the driver's seat used for?

OK, answer directly from the horse's mouth so to speak:

Originally the crutch strap came off the eye on the seat base.  This is now not allowed by CAMS rules  as the belt would only come through the seat + / - a few degrees.  The crutch strap is now anchored behind the seat, redirected under the black bar and then square up through the seat, so the harness now complies and is easily adjusted.
