BRU Posted 12December, 2019 Report Share Posted 12December, 2019 Hey all, aside from the usual more thorough condition inspection you might do on a UK import, is there any particular due diligence you should do on an imported car? Are there any kind of special conditions or restrictions that imports could hold or anything I should check? Thanks BRU
P-Kay Posted 12December, 2019 Report Share Posted 12December, 2019 I'm no expert, however, I understand they leave Stuttgart the same way albeit the steering wheel location
OBRUT Posted 12December, 2019 Report Share Posted 12December, 2019 If registered, not really. If not registered, ask to see the Import Approval.
9er Posted 13December, 2019 Report Share Posted 13December, 2019 As above, checking that #s match up between car and paperwork.
BRU Posted 13December, 2019 Author Report Share Posted 13December, 2019 Seems pretty straight forward then.. what I’m looking at has been registered for more than 5 years here, so it seems nothing additional to be done!!
brian in buddina Posted 13December, 2019 Report Share Posted 13December, 2019 rusted sills & corrosion on everything under the car
Avon Posted 19December, 2019 Report Share Posted 19December, 2019 Child seat anchor points are the only thing the authorities can get excited about - but if car is already registered should be all ok from a compliance perspective. If you're asking about general vehicle condition - depends a lot on the exact model as they all can have their potential problem areas. For example 996 (+997?) have exhaust manifold bolts instead of studs and these will have rusted back to semi-circular nubs by now and usually require drilling out - a major job. These models also have a spot behind the plastic rear wheel arch cover that traps dirt and moisture and over ~15 yrs will rust if not cleaned out.
