Stanley 246 Posted 30April, 2022 Report Share Posted 30April, 2022 Hi Forum Have a 2013 991.1 Carrera 4S which has covered just 28K kms with full Porsche service history , it has a 4year Porsche extended warranty….it’s up for an interim service ( just oil change I’m lead to believe) it recently passed a 111 point check to enable the warranty extension. Question…. any of you taken your warranted vehicle to a reputable aftermarket Porsche specialist for service work ? Im reliably informed that if they follow Porsche guidelines and use Genuine OME parts this will not affect any unforeseen future warranty work ( any of you experienced other wise )…. mc968cs Posted 30April, 2022 Report Share Posted 30April, 2022 Everyone I know that has an extended warranty (maybe 5 people) also uses Porsche to service their car - that includes parties who even own their own car workshops.

GC9911 Posted 30April, 2022 Report Share Posted 30April, 2022 I am on my second 911 extended warranty, always serviced at PCW (Willoughby). I have had 2 claims, 1 minor & 1 serious, they sent a tilt tray to my house, 120klms from the dealers, picked up the car, repaired it & returned it. No charge, expert repair. I think (IMHO) the warranty is with Porsche direct so I’m happy to stick with my dealer.

Lucky Phil Posted 1May, 2022 Report Share Posted 1May, 2022 Don't risk it stick with the dealer. For the extra $200 or so, it is well worth it. You get 1 year roadside assistance too with a dealer service so that off sets the cost a bit and another thing you don't have to worry about. jakroo Posted 1May, 2022 Report Share Posted 1May, 2022 You could always contact the ACCC who are the government body who do many things including regulating 'goods and service warranty' . One of the mainstays of the warranty that all issuers must adhere to is meeting the warranty obligations even if the item has not been serviced by their own dealer network as long as certain conditions are met. One of those conditions is the use of genuine parts. An independent Porsche service centre will be very much aware of this and will adhere to it. Note that items such as a changed exhaust to a non genuine item (or modification to a genuine one) can cause a claim to be voided by the brand (whether it be Toyota or MB or Porsche etc). donR Posted 1May, 2022 Report Share Posted 1May, 2022 I go to an independent specialist for my track set up but I was told by the Porsche Service Agent to make sure I still do the major services with Porsche. I was doing the yearly services with them anyway as they are very convenient to me and I think not being factory owned they are really quite reasonable and flexible although IMO they only have one good service agent. Problem I've found with the dealerships is they do not have much focus or experience with Track set up. They are booked out for weeks to months as they are too busy servicing all those Macans and they don't always check or recommend necessary changes for regular track work. The point here is that if you are tracking your car you really have to go to an independent specialist. In your case I assume this doesn't apply so may as well go back to the dealership. Although if you are using it normally and getting it serviced as per Porsche guidelines I wouldn't think you would have any issues if you had to claim, but maybe check your local rules. I know one dealership who for warranty extension complained that there wasn't an "N" on a customer's identical size Michelin Pilot 4S tyres, in another case the same dealership wanted proof that the independent service centre installed OEM Porsche parts which was ironic because it was the Porsche centre that that independent buys their parts from. So I think maybe you do need to be careful if you want to avoid these headaches in the event you have some issue, at least with some dealerships, particularly those that are factory owned, who seem to be more strict.
