TwoHeadsTas Posted 21September, 2022 Report Share Posted 21September, 2022 I think 18's are a sweet spot for 996 / 997 / Boxster / Cayman. Comfortable ride, 19's the ride gets a bit hard, and 18's probably have the handling advantage / tyre availabilityover the 17's Joz
Pagey Posted 21September, 2022 Author Report Share Posted 21September, 2022 Interesting that the 18s increase the wheel gap by 10mm . Lowering springs might be required
OZ930 Posted 21September, 2022 Report Share Posted 21September, 2022 If the profiles are correct then the rolling diameter should be the same and the wheel gap should also be the same. Maybe the suspension hasn’t settled.

Lowering springs might be required Ah yes, I have just put in H&R lowering springs in my 996.1 running 18's, and it does look much better with those without degrading the ride quality tomo

Lowering springs might be required Shouldn't be the case as long as the tyre sizes are correct. Perhaps it's been in the air for a bit and needs to settle. Looks-wise, out of the two, the 18s look best but the car would also benefit from a slight drop. I've got Eibachs on mine and very happy with the lack of wheel gap. donR Posted 23September, 2022 Report Share Posted 23September, 2022 Definitely 18s. Tyre choice for the track is excellent such as A050s or Z221s, amongst many others.

donR Posted 24September, 2022 Report Share Posted 24September, 2022 Or the Dunlop DZ03G for a more hardcore track/Tarmac tyre. On my wish list to try but a bit pricey.
