Simonk Posted 7March, 2013 Report Share Posted 7March, 2013 Hi all I have to replace both rear tyres, one of which has a hole in the sidewall. I've discovered the car jack is missing something so I've used a scissor jack on the lifting platform mount. I now want to put a chassis stand in and use the jack on the other side. The idea is I just take both wheels down to get the tyres replaced rather than the frig around with the spare. Is there another point I can mount the chassis stands? wasserkuhl Posted 8March, 2013 Report Share Posted 8March, 2013 Greetings. I Jack them up via the engine case with a block of wood to protect. I then place jack stands at the torsion tube ends. I have also found the following picture of good reference for using a lift. The Red X's are where to support.
wasserkuhl Posted 8March, 2013 Report Share Posted 8March, 2013 Jack the front up using a 1200 long block of wood and then support at the front of the torsion tubes. I have my 912 in my Shed like this at the moment!
Simonk Posted 8March, 2013 Author Report Share Posted 8March, 2013 Thanks guys. Decided to only replace the blown tyre for now. I've found the same brand/model and the other tyre has heaps still left on it.
Uncle Posted 8March, 2013 Report Share Posted 8March, 2013 I do the same as Wasser but use a polishing cloth folded over a number of times to "cup" the case. Sif I need to polish stuff anyhow.

tazzieman Posted 8March, 2013 Report Share Posted 8March, 2013 I think I'll get one of these http://www.tarett.com/items/911-products/911-interior~exterior/rear-tow-hook-jack-pad-all-911-rm1310-detail.htm which fits if you've got the older style exhaust setup.
