LeeM Posted 17June, 2023 Report Share Posted 17June, 2023 Having only done one road trip in the 911 to Hangar Banger 2 in 1000°C heat, I can't say I enjoyed the drive that much 😅 But the destination was great. I don't enjoy road trips much, yet 10 or so years before the 911 trip I drove to Melbourne in my old 58 Beetle. Perfect weather, lowered suspension, great engine, and in amazing condition, and it had the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in too. The fuel gauge didn't work, so as a caution I stopped at nearly every servo on the way. I must have spoken to 20 or 30 people there and back who shared stories of their youth in a Beetle, or that they just loved my car as much as I did. Got pulled by the cops for 130 in a 110 zone (it was also a fast little bugger), but they let me off with the "Oh my speedo is bouncing. Sorry about that" He probably didn't believe it, but I got away with it anyway 👍 Best drive I've ever done in anything, and I'd be happy to do it again in that car Harsh, tomo, micknine01 and 1 other

Kool Beatle by the way.👍 LeeM and micknine01
LeeM Posted 18June, 2023 Report Share Posted 18June, 2023 @tomo My 'air cond' was a cordless site fan with 5 6.0ah batteries and a water spray bottle 👍🙄 No music either, so I sang Bon Jovi's 'Dead or Alive' loudly about 100 times 😅 Followed my GPS too. Man that was a BAD idea! Ended up in some town with 4 people all sitting on rickety old chairs outside the only servo giving me directions. Felt like I was a scene from Deliverance without the banjo's! I wasn't buying any drinks from there 😳😅 Added over 2 hours to my trip getting basically lost. Wasn't a fun trip over I can assure you tomo and Yeatesy
