Ardyne Posted 18February Report Share Posted 18February Sounds like a brick wrapped up in a jumper loose in the back. Speed or revs doesnt affect it, happens on the smallest of bumps. Could this transmission mount be causing it? Thanks in advance.
GC9911 Posted 18February Report Share Posted 18February Looks dodgy to me, if it’s stuffed the others are as well. Shouldn’t have that split. Ardyne and tomo 1

Peter M Posted 18February Report Share Posted 18February I suggest you look at all your suspension bushes. My money is on the sway bar or the sway bar drop links. I don't think your gearbox bushes are causing the noise. LeeM, tomo and Ardyne 2
Ardyne Posted 18February Author Report Share Posted 18February Thanks. I looked at the sway bar links but they all looked good. Would i be able to diagnose with sight and hands or do i need to get in the with a socket set to see if they are loose. ? It all feels pretty solid to the touch. Ardyne Posted 18February Author Report Share Posted 18February Might have to get it to mechanic. Can i ask, the drive shafts going into the diff, are they supposed to be able ro be moved in and out about an inch. Also should there be play in the coupler, as in if i grab it like in the pic should there be a little play ? Thanks legends

Ardyne Posted 19February Author Report Share Posted 19February Nah, ill have to get it to melb which is a couple of hours away.......i havent given up just yet though. Mech reckons if i can raise it on its wheels such as a tyre changing hoist i would have a better chance. tomo
Ardyne Posted 19February Author Report Share Posted 19February Thanks guys. Got up on the door sill and rode it like Phar Lap. Top of the rear coilovers moved on the left side with a knock. Obvious in hindsight. Nut seems ultra tight though so i might go have a look in the upper wheel well. tomo

Ardyne Posted 9April Author Report Share Posted 9April Top nuts were fine, I found the problem. The adjust knob never worked since I've had it and so the coilover was always a little faulty. Anyhow. The previous owner ran it ultra low and i think finally the bumpstop disintegrated and I think it was the issue. Whole thing came apart in my hands. Have sent to Bilstein, they think it's repairable.... Dalai and sus911
