NiX Posted 25April, 2013 Report Share Posted 25April, 2013 Hi All, Hoping someone could tell me what this noise is, seems to be coming from the rear left wheel area. http://yourlisten.com/channel/content/16976041/Rear_End_Noise Any assistance greatly appreciated. SteveT Posted 25April, 2013 Report Share Posted 25April, 2013 I presume it's happening when you actually drive it? Sounds like a bearing in the driveline, I would be getting it looked at pronto.
NiX Posted 25April, 2013 Author Report Share Posted 25April, 2013 Correct, only when driving. Just had a full service done 2 weeks ago, the LHF bearing was replaced then. Thanks for the reply.
jnr356 Posted 25April, 2013 Report Share Posted 25April, 2013 rear wheel bearing boxsters tend to chew out wheel bearings
michel Posted 25April, 2013 Report Share Posted 25April, 2013 second wheel bearings - anyways a better and more economical place to start ...new bearings can also fail
Caver Posted 26April, 2013 Report Share Posted 26April, 2013 Sounds like wheel bearing, just make sure your handbrake isn't hanging on...although that tends to make more of a disk brake noise. When you are just rolling, pull the handbrake gently to centre the shoes and see if the noise goes away.

Cheers Caver, I'll give that a go in the morning. I'm pretty sure it's a bearing.
OZ930 Posted 27April, 2013 Report Share Posted 27April, 2013 Sounds like mine, must be normal, don't worry about it..........hmmmm, Just Kidding !!! It does sound like mine and its a wheel bearing Had hoped it was a retainer clip from the handbrake as Caver has eluded to, but was not to be, Good luck
