Vas Posted 5May, 2013 Report Share Posted 5May, 2013 Anyone watching the V8s in Perth would have seen this. The little Porsche has won both races in the Touring car masters race. lol cant stop laughing, looks crazy seeing that little 911 beating the big V8s. Its the first win for a Porsche in the class A for 7 years. Most Porsches run in class B, but this little orange car is in class A. Go you old VW. 333pg333 Posted 5May, 2013 Report Share Posted 5May, 2013 Yes, I wondered if anyone else saw that. So he's up in A class now. They said it had a new, bigger/better motor and wider rubber. Wonder what it went from, and to? Good young driver too.

SteveT Posted 5May, 2013 Report Share Posted 5May, 2013 And engine capacity is restricted, so bigger displacement isn't allowed if it wasn't available from the factory in that same model

333pg333 Posted 6May, 2013 Report Share Posted 6May, 2013 And engine capacity is restricted, so bigger displacement isn't allowed if it wasn't available from the factory in that same model Hmm, well I've never seen an RS bodyshape with a 3.2 available? 345hp is pretty full on too. That's up with early model GT3's from recollection. Must be some motor.

That's up with early model GT3's from recollection. Must be some motor. The rules used to be that if your car model AND year had an engine available you could use that engine. For example Holden HQ could use a 308 but I don't believe they could run a 350 Chev even though the Chev was used in earlier Showroom available models of Monaros and Kingswoods. GT Falcons could run 351. You get the idea.
Airhead Posted 7May, 2013 Report Share Posted 7May, 2013 The commentators kept calling him a young driver. He was born in 1967 so by my math that makes him 46 years old. If that's the case I must be in my prime now! PS Bloody good race all the same. But - all that power and you have to pay the price somewhere - "As the field headed for the grid, dual race victor, Michael Almond headed to pit lane instead of P1 in yet another heartbreaking story, his #26 Porsche having broken a CV joint and going no further for the weekend." From the TCM website.
SteveT Posted 7May, 2013 Report Share Posted 7May, 2013 Check the age of most of the drivers in that category and you might find that he is a youngun!
