michel Posted 17May, 2013 Report Share Posted 17May, 2013 Interested to see the inner seamstress in you...who has been doing their own interiors? Post pics and tips if so. I have bought some Alfa 'flying buttress' seats that need recovering and thinking about breaking out the old singer treadlie my dear nan gifted me long ago. ( in another life I made kites). Ive done Carpet and head liners parcel shelf etc but never anything as complex as a seat. So keen to hear your tales
Uncle Posted 17May, 2013 Report Share Posted 17May, 2013 I am thinking about having a go at door trims to start with. I've already got the Alacantara.

cyberpunky Posted 17May, 2013 Report Share Posted 17May, 2013 I have done a lot of trimming over the years working in car audio, plenty of door trims, parcel shelfs, boot walls etc and I have watched real trimmers make seats and stuff, but I have never done seats. None of my trimming has involved a sewing machine though, so have no idea of any tricks or tips when they are involved lol. All I know is use good quality material, good quality glue(3M mostly) and a heat gun is your friend peace Cyberpunky
clutch-monkey Posted 18May, 2013 Report Share Posted 18May, 2013 the door cards are super easy, as is carpeting the interior after you remove seats. seats themselves are a pain in the ass
tazzieman Posted 18May, 2013 Report Share Posted 18May, 2013 Not done a seat yet ; might start with the old series landy seats a guy dropped off this morning! Here's a good result http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/728149-diy-re-upholstery-front-sport-seats-kit-85-89-a.html and http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/630073-recovering-early-porsche-911-912-356-seats.html I remember a guy on Pelican who stitched his own leather and ended up with a somewhat baggy scrotal look , not so good!
